Soviet WWII Binocular Manufacturers

During World War II, several factories in the Soviet Union produced binoculars for military use. One of the main manufacturers was Factory of Precise Mechanics No. 69, which produced various models including the 8×30 binoculars. This factory was responsible for manufacturing binoculars with military factory code 69.23

Another significant manufacturer was the Bolshevik factory, which had its origins in the Obukhov factory in St. Petersburg. This factory produced a range of binocular models and was evacuated to Novosibirsk in late 1941, where it continued to produce the 7×50 model during the war.23

Additionally, the Leningrad Optical-mechanical factory (LOMZ) also contributed to the production of Soviet binoculars, although it mainly focused on the 6×30 model and other models in smaller quantities.23

These factories standardized the production of binoculars, particularly the 6×30 model, starting in the late 1930s, to ensure parts were interchangeable and repairs could be more easily managed.3
